ABOUT SOUMODIP MUKHERJEE

An SEO Lead who understands the work behind the strategy

I’m an SEO professional based in Siliguri, India. Since 2018, I have worked across freelance, agency-style and senior SEO roles—helping teams improve how they research, prioritize, implement and measure organic growth.

From freelance problem-solving to SEO leadership

I started with the kind of work that teaches you to look closely: keyword research for small businesses, local SEO, WordPress fixes, page optimization and technical cleanup. There was rarely a large team or perfect dataset. The job was to understand the problem, make a practical improvement and explain what happened.

I later moved into agency-style delivery, working across audits, content optimization, authority-building support and performance reporting. That experience showed me that SEO quality is not only about knowledge. It depends on repeatable processes, useful handoffs, client communication and the discipline to check whether recommendations were actually implemented.

In my current senior work, I lead strategy across client websites, coordinate specialists, review deliverables and connect technical, content and reporting decisions. I have led and mentored a six-person SEO team while working with content, development and marketing colleagues.

How I lead SEO work

Start with the business problem

A ranking is useful only when it supports the right audience, product, market or conversion. I begin by understanding what the business needs SEO to change.

Prioritize what can create movement

A long audit is not automatically a good audit. I rank work by likely impact, confidence, effort, dependencies and the team’s ability to implement it.

Stay close to implementation

I write clear requirements, answer questions, review completed work and check the result. Recommendations should not disappear into a backlog without ownership.

Report decisions, not decoration

Dashboards and reports should explain what changed, why it matters, what is blocked and what the team should do next.

  • 35% growth in non-branded clicks in a comparative period
  • Approximately 20 monthly reporting hours saved through automation

These are past, anonymized outcomes—not promises of identical future results. More supporting context can be discussed where client confidentiality permits.

Remote by location, integrated by working style

I am based in India and have supported work connected to the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France and India. I do not present myself as locally based in markets where I do not have an office.

For remote roles, I agree the necessary working-hour overlap, meeting cadence, reporting expectations and decision rights before starting. Clear documentation keeps work moving across time zones.

The opportunity I am looking for

My first priority is a remote SEO Lead or SEO Manager role where I can own strategy, strengthen delivery quality and help a capable team do its best work. Agencies are the primary fit because my experience combines multi-account thinking, client communication, technical review and team coordination.

I also consider contract, fractional and focused consulting work when the scope, authority and expected outcome are clear.
